Boy #4: "Mom, do you want to come to my party?"
**M ready with his work gloves on.
The girls had set up a blanket in the backyard and were playing cards and munching on snacks. Glum from his exclusion from their "girl party" I encouraged M to have a boy party. His mind began awhirring. I was the invited guest to his "work party." I was escorted to the backyard and led along a path of carefully placed sticks to a blanket complete with a small bouquet of flowers from the yard. I was allowed to rest only a moment before I was given a pair of gardening gloves and urged to begin weeding. Soon I was awarded a dime and praise for my efforts. Next on the agenda was the game, "Who weighs more?" Though we all could guess the outcome, M and I sat on the alligator seesaw and yes, I weighed more. I was again pronounced "the Winner" and awarded a nickle. With the success of his first themed party, he enjoys mulling over many new ideas for parties in the future.

Boy #3: "Remember to bring the brownies tonight!"
D headed off to his last gymnastic practice tonight. Due to tight finances we finally had to pull him from the program. Though he is quite sad, dreads missing his friends and wonders how he will fill his days, he is taking it very well and praying fervently for more work for his dad.
**The beginning of D's gymnastics began in Daddy's hand.
Boy #2: "I think I need stitches."
** another hospital wristband added to the collection
I could not pursuade him that a few butterfly bandages would do the trick. Lightheaded J came staggering in the kitchen this evening calmly telling me that his shin hit his bike pedal. He was adamant that he would rather have stitches than a big fat scar. We headed to the ER and 3 1/2 hours later J was on his way home telling his dad about the 5 stitches closing up his gaping "3" inch wound. Skeptical mom took out the ruler while bandaging the wound. It measured 1 1/2 inches. Still a pretty good battle wound for an afternoon of dirt biking.
** J decided yesterday to take up biking again. He spent the afternoon in the yard today and yesterday biking and industriously building a new ramp.
Boy #1: "Can I borrow the van?"
**N in Okefenokee Swamp '04
What's next in N's plan book? Finishing up his classes this semester he is moving on. Puzzling over where to live, where to work and what to spend his time on, he touches base here and there to fill us in.
